Erik Janssen

Erik Janssen
was born in 1966 in the Netherlands. He got a degree on conducting at the Alkmaar Conservatory, in 1989 and in trumpet, at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam in 1992. In 1995, on the same school, he finished a Master degree in conducting with Danny Oosterman.

During his trumpet career, he played in many great orchestras such as the Amsterdam Wind Orchestra, Netherland Philharmonic Orchestra, Dutch fanfare Orchestra and many more. He conducted the Brassband Schoonhoven in the period from 1992-2001 with great success, and after he was the conductor of the Brassband Rijnmond, Dutch Champion of 2004, and 5th place in the 2005 European Brass Band Championship. Rijnmond was invited to the famous All England Master Brass Band competition in Cambridge as one of the first non British Brass Band.

During his career, Erik Janssen has won several prices, and was the winner of a lot of contests, such as 10 times winner of the dutch federation top championship with Zaandijks Fanfare Band and the Brassband Schoonhoven, A and B Band, he won 5 times with Brassband Rijnmond the brass band championships in different sections, 2 times winner of the brass band festival in Leeuwarden conducting Brassband the Goorn, and in many other festivals.

As a guest conductor he did some musicals and school concerts with the Royal Conservatory of the Hague.
Since June 2006, Erik Janssen is appointed as the professional conductor of the fanfare band of the Dutch army police (Trompetterkorps der Koninklijke Marechaussee). He is also the conductor of the Marechaussee Big Band and of the Verão Amizade Summer Music Course since 2005.

He collaborates with Molenaar Edition since 1993, one of the world's leading Sheet music Publishers for concert bands. Erik Janssen became the artistic director of Molenaar Edition in 2001.
